Whipple Family Heading to Greece!

It’s official: The Fantastic Family Whipple is going to Greece! After a brief Athenian holiday in which several new world records were set, including Simon’s record for First Rocket-Kart Jump Over the Parthenon and Beatrice’s record for Most Spanakopita Eaten in Ten Minutes, the Whipples have been invited to return to Greece for an extended stay. Mr. and Mrs. Whipple look forward to using their family’s newly granted dual-citizenship to break many more records on Greek soil: home of the Very First Tournament to Combine Naked Wrestling and Metal-Frisbee Throwing (sometimes referred to as the Olympic Games).

(The Fantastic Family Whipple will be translated into Greek and published by Metaichmio Books, Athens. Thanks to my lovely foreign-rights agent, Taryn Fagerness, for escorting the Whipples around the world!)

Heroes of Record Breaking: Ashrita Furman

Post on April 5, 2013 @ 4:23 am

This video clip brings together two of my favorite things: HBO’s Real Sports—and Ashrita Furman, who holds More World Records than Any Other Individual on Earth. If I were in charge of the world, this man would be the Highest Paid Athlete on the Planet. Sadly, I am not in charge of the world, and so I will have to be content admiring his inspiring records for pancake catching and underwater pogo-sticking from the pages of the Guinness Book and from the odd news feature, instead of from the front page of every newspaper on earth as he deserves. Ashrita Furman, I salute you!

Tiny typewriterHello and welcome to the grand opening of fantasticfamilywhipple.com, the official website of the Fantastic Family Whipple and their appointed word collector, Matthew Ward (aka “Me”). Come on in. Make yourself comfortable. Have a look around. Feel free to browse the various record-breaking departments. Of course, most of those records are currently for sparseness (e.g. Fewest Number of Blog Posts Ever Written), but we’ve only just opened, and with any luck, we’ll be getting more deliveries from the word warehouse in the near future. Onward and upward! —Mattward
